Tokyo Metropolitan Nishi Senior High School.
Uken is a nickname of "Uchu Kenkyu Bu".
Uchu means outer space or the univers,
Kenkyu means reserch or study,
and Bu means club.
Nishi is the west or western.
Then, it commonly stands for astronomical club.
Including Uken mailing list,

My China Home Page
(http://www.threeweb.ad.jp/logos/china/)
,
and this page is on Dalian where he lives now.
From where,
you could find a hyperlink
"My Self-Introduction",
and go to linked page
The Author and His Friends' Home Page
(http://www.threeweb.ad.jp/logos/author.html)
There is a chapter
"Astronomy"
in a lot of contents.
In the same page,
you may be able to find out a hyperlinked title of a chapter
From the Life of Canopus
(http://www.threeweb.ad.jp/logos/canopus.html).
In the page,
there is a chapter
"The High School and College Days",
which says,
"The High School Days: See the Japanese Part below.".
In Japanese part,
he writes about Nishi High School
and
Earth Science Group of Physical Science Club,
which should be the antecedent of Uken, the present astronomical club.
Or
you could find hyperlink
"RETURN TO HOME PAGE"
from
The Author and His Friends' Home Page
(http://www.threeweb.ad.jp/logos/author.html)
,
and arrive at
The Languages of the World by Computers and the Internet
(http://www.threeweb.ad.jp/logos/).
This seems to be the top page.
It is wonderful and worth seeing.
I feel it may be strange to introduce his sites
in my Makisima Bunko's Astronomy page,
but they have relation to astronomy, at least.
I may move these links to another page
that has suitable category in the future.

There is the name of "Astronomcal Club"
on the page of "Club Activities".
It is still alive!
If you read the "Schedule for the Year" page,
you can know the schedule for
the school festival and the welcoming party for the newcomers.
Then you may be able to guess
when you can watch the handmade planetarium,
or when the club magazine Spicule may be published.
